Face to Face with History
2006 is the 200th anniversary of the famous twin battle. The city invites inhabitants of the region as well as interested guests are invited to join a travel through the time back.
Rendezvous with Napoleon - Jena invites you!
To mark the occasion, Jena, together with other regions of central Thuringia, is hosting a Franco-German Year under the title “rendezvous”. The focus of numerous events will be on encounters and the cultural exchanges of the people at this historically symbolic place.Experience the highlights from October 13th to 15th 2006
October 13th: Napoleon NightOpen museums with music, various exhibitions and lectures
October 14th: Battle Reenactment "Jena-Auerstedt 2006"
Nearly 1.400 members of military-historic associations take part in this “history lesson”.
October 14th: Concert by the Jena Philharmonic and by the Orchestra of the Picardie
To commemorate the victims of the battle in 1806.
October 15th: Historical bivouac
Historical camp from the year 1806 with field kitchen, blacksmith and much more.
