Top-class scientific landscape

The range of scientific research is extremely wide, which can be traced back to the presence of all kinds of different institutes and scientific institutions. Jena is the location of a renowned university, the largest University of Applied Sciences in Thuringia and a large number of non-university institutes, meaning the city has an extensive urban network of scientific institutions working with research institutes all over Germany and the world. Many scientific discoveries made in Jena have triggered international research projects. In particular, institutes with close business links see their future in the region.

The city prospers from its high-achieving, traditional landscape of universities and research. A wide range of education and research opportunities are provided by: the institutes on the Beutenberg campus and many other educational establishments.
