It is mainly the 25,000-plus students which keep the city young. In the many cafés, restaurants and cosy pubs in the lovingly preserved streets of the Altstadt (Old Town), there is a lively student life. International exchanges are particularly encouraged by the universities’ scientific networks, attracting many visitors from all over the world to this sparkling city of science.
