In the processing trade, in the field of health and social care, in retail and the services sector, business for the next few months is expected to be good, and staff recruitment is planned. Thanks to joint efforts by all partners working in the job market, it has been possible to reduce unemployment figures drastically. In February 2009, 4,799 people in Jena were unemployed, a drop of 4.2% compared with the same month last year. The unemployment rate is currently at 9.2% (same month last year: 10.0%).
